Both teams were held scoreless in the first half. Belmont (5-10-0, 2-5-0) struck first on a goal by Anna Dinwiddie with the assist by Brooke Goodman in the 51st minute. Troy (5-8-3, 3-3-2) answered 15 minutes later when Karlie Bierie took advantage of an open net. Keeper Micaela Crowley made a nice save, but could not hold on as Bierie punched it in. Kate Hyslop was there with the assist.
Neither team scored again in regulation, and the Trojans went into overtime for the sixth time this season. The game winning goal came just over a minute into overtime, when Sarah Brandt got one by Troy goalkeeper Laura Longard. A foul was called at midfield, which let Erin Porter kick it deep enough for Brandt to punch it in.
Troy continues A-Sun play on Friday when they go to Florida Atlantic for a match at 6 p.m.
