Lizzie Clough enters her fourth season on the Troy volleyball staff and her second as an assistant coach in 2015. She served as a student assistant and graduate assistant coach in her first two seasons. Prior to her time on the bench, Clough was a three-year letterwinner for the Trojans from 2009 to 2011.
Â
In her first three seasons on the bench, Clough helped the Trojans to a pair of appearances in the Sun Belt Championships semifinals. Her first season, 2012, saw the Trojans post a 21-12 overall record and a 10-5 Sun Belt mark. The school-record 10 conference wins helped the Trojans to a program-best second place finish in the Sun Belt.
Â
After winning the first Sun Belt Championships match in program history in 2012, the Trojans won again in 2013, this time defeating No. 1 seed and regular season champion WKU in the quarterfinals of the tournament being held in Trojan Arena.
Â
A defensive specialist for the Trojans from 2009 to 2011, Clough amassed 616 career digs and 49 career service aces, despite only playing in eight matches in 2010 due an injury. She played in all 115 sets of Troy’s 2011 campaign as the Trojans qualified for their first Sun Belt Championships since 2005.
Â
Clough was also a three-year letterwinner for the Troy track and field program. She was the 2013 Sun Belt Conference Champion in the javelin throw and qualified for the NCAA Track and Field East Regional three times while also being named an Academic All-American twice.
Â
The Mobile, Ala., native received her bachelor’s degree in sport and fitness management from Troy in 2012, graduating in less than four years. She also earned her master’s in sport and fitness management with a concentration in administration from Troy in 2015.
