Former Trojan Josh Simmons enters his sixth season as the Troy University rodeo coach.
A native of Paxton, Fla., Simmons competed in rodeo through high school and at Abraham Baldwin College in Tifton, Ga., before arriving at Troy in 2002. He competed as a member of the Troy team in both calf roping and team roping events and is still active as a competitor. In 2004 he placed third in team roping at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.

He received his degree in business administration management from Troy in the spring of 2005.
Simmons became Troy’s head coach in March of 2008 and has helped numerous Troy teams and individuals to the College National Finals Rodeo.
