2023-25 | Troy - Assistant Coach |
One of the most prolific players in Florida State history, Anna Shelnutt, begins her second season as an assistant coach at Troy.
Shelnutt helped mold a Troy offense that ranked in the top five in the Sun Belt in multiple categories: runs scored ( fourth-265), total bases (fifth-588), walks (second-185), slugging percentage (fifth-.437), triples (third-11), on-base percentage (fourth -.366), RBIs (fourth-232) and home runs (fourth-49).
Additionally, three Trojans earned All-Sun Belt honors, and Troy defeated a pair of ranked opponents in No. 25 Texas State and No. 25 Louisiana.
Shelnutt joins the Troy staff following one year at Champions Fast Pitch Academy in Marietta, Ga., where she assisted with the facility's day-to-day operations and was one of the lead instructors for the elite facility which regularly coaches players who move on the Division I level.
Shelnutt hit five home runs and drove in 15 runs during the 2018 postseason as she helped lead Florida State to the ACC Championship and NCAA National Championship. In addition, she was named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team. She provided the only offense for the Seminoles with a solo home run in a 1-0 victory over Washington in the opener of the WCWS Championship Series and followed with a 2-run blast in the first inning of game two, which clinched the Seminoles the national title.
Shelnutt finished her career at Florida State 10th all-time in program history with 31 career home runs while ranking fifth in field percentage (.993) and eighth in hit by pitches (15). Additionally, she is the Seminoles' all-time leader with 1,211 career putouts.
Named one of the top 100 players in the country heading into the 2020 season by Softball America, Shelnutt earned All-ACC honors in 2019 after batting at a .293 clip with eight doubles, 11 home runs, 35 RBIs and a .585 slugging percentage. Her postseason magic came alive again that season with a 2-run home run in the ACC Quarterfinals, a home run and caught two base runners stealing in the title game. Additionally, she hit .500 with a home run in the NCAA Tallahassee Super Regional.
Shelnutt earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida State in 2020 and her master's in sport management from Florida State in 2021.
