Larry Cordaro enters his third season as an assistant coach and director of operations at Troy in 2025-26Â and has an extensive background in coaching at the collegiate level.Â
The Trojans enter the 2025-26 season as the only team in the Sun Belt to record four consecutive 20-win seasons and the only program with 10 or more conference wins in each of the last four years.Â
The 2024-25 season marked Troy’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2016-17. The team finished the regular season 23-11 overall and 13-5 in Sun Belt play, earning the conference regular season title.Â
Troy won three consecutive games in the Sun Belt Tournament, including a championship victory over No. 4 seed Arkansas State. The Trojans rallied from an eight-point second-half deficit to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament.Â
The 2023-24 season saw Troy win 20 regular season games for the third consecutive season, as well winning double-digit conference games for the third straight year. The Trojans are the only team in the Sun Belt to achieve that mark. The Trojans finished the regular season third in the Sun Belt, which is the highest they have finished during Scott Cross’ tenure. Troy was picked eighth in the coaches preseason poll. Troy played three nationally televised games and forced Oregon State into a double overtime showdown in Corvallis, Ore.
Cordaro, hired May of 2023, spent the previous nine seasons as the head coach at LSU-Alexandria. He was hired to lead the program in its inaugural season and immediately made it a powerhouse in the NAIA with a 224-50 record, including eight NAIA Tournament appearances and a berth in the national championship in 2018.
During his time as head coach, LSUA won conference titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and led them to a 107-10 record at home.Â
Prior to his long stint as a head coach, Cordaro was the Associate Head Coach at Southeastern Louisiana from 2006-2013.
His first coaching stint came as an assistant coach at UT-Arlington from 2004-2006, where he overlapped with Troy head coach Scott Cross.Â
A native of Ruston, La., Cordaro has an impressive award list to go along with his coaching resume, including being named the 2015-16 HoopDirt.com NAIA Coach of the Year, a three-time Red River Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, a two-time Louisiana Sports Writer Association Coach of the Year, the Don Meyer National Coach of the Year in 2015 and the NABC NAIA Coach of the Year in 2017.
He was a student-athlete and student manager at Xavier University of Louisiana from 1999-2000 and a graduate assistant at LSU from 2001-2004.Â
He received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2002 and a master’s degree in sports management in 2004 from LSU.
