Quarterbacks and Troy University go hand-in-hand and Sean Reagan has had a huge part in the success of Troyโs signal callers for nine years, including the last seven as the quarterback coach. He was promoted to co-offensive coordinator prior to the 2018 season.
Reagan has worked with three record-setting quarterbacks during his tenure at Troy in Levi Brown, Brandon Silvers and Corey Robinson.ย
Under his guidance, Robinson turned in one of the most impressive collegiate careers in NCAA, Sun Belt Conference and Troy history. Robinson left Troy with the school and league records in touchdown passes, attempts, completions and yards in addition to the career record for total offense.
Robinson is one of five players in NCAA history to throw for over 3,000 yards and accumulate over 3,000 yards of total offense in four seasons and he finished his career ninth in FBS history in passing yards. Robinson set the NCAA record for completion percentage in a game (30 attempts) with a 30-for-32 performance against UAB in 2013 for which he was named the Capital One Player of the Week.
In 2014, Brandon Silvers etched his name in the NCAA record book for the highest completion percentage by a freshman in NCAA history. Silvers completed 70.5 percent of his passes to break former Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradfordโs mark of 69.5 percent. Silvers was named to the All-Sun Belt First Team as a junior in 2016 as the Trojans led the league in scoring and finished second in total offense and passing offense. Silvers finished his career as Troyโs all-time leader in touchdowns responsible.
Troy finished the 2016 season 10-3 with a victory in the Dollar General Bowl, the first top-25 ranking in school and Sun Belt Conference history and the best win-improvement in the country. The success continued in 2017 as Troy set a school FBS record for wins as the Trojans finished the season 11-2 with a Sun Belt championship, New Orleans Bowl title and a victory at No. 22 LSU.
Reagan mentored Deon Anthony into an All-Sun Belt performer (all-purpose) in 2012 as Troyโs backup quarterback. Anthony set the then Troy single-season record (broken by Silvers in 2014) by completing 69.9 percent of his passes (79-of-113) and was named the Allstate Sugar Bowl Manning Award Player of the Week.ย
Additionally, Reagan coached Troyโs running backs during the first three years of Neal Brownโs tenure. During that brief stint, Brandon Burks became Troyโs eighth 1,000-yard rusher as he finished the 2015 season with 1,005 yards and seven touchdowns. Jordan Chunn made it two-for-two as he rushed for 1,288 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2016. Chunn would go on to set the Troy career rushing and total touchdown records during the 2017 season.ย
Reagan returned to Troy in 2011 as the full time quarterback coach after one season as a graduate assistant under Neal Brown at Texas Tech.
Reagan previously served on the staff of the Trojans as a graduate assistant in 2008 and 2009 when Brown was the offensive coordinator.
During his time at Texas Tech, Reagan assisted with the breakdown of opponentsโ defenses, and was responsible for the scouting report from week-to-week detailing information on the opponents. ย
During his two-year graduate assistant stint at Troy, the Trojans won two Sun Belt Conference championships, including finishing undefeated in conference play in 2009.
He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Rockdale (Ga.) High School where he served as a volunteer assistant coach in 1998.ย He then moved to an assistant coach at the varsity level in 1999, where he served as the running backs coach for the 6 AAA Region champions and the offensive coordinator for the ninth grade team.ย Reagan also served as the running backs coach for the varsity and offensive coordinator for the ninth grade team in 2000; before moving to the wide receivers/defensive backs coach in 2001.
Reagan left Rockdale for a position at Chestatee (Ga.) High School, where he helped in starting the football program at a newly established high school.ย He served as the varsity running back coach and junior varsity offensive coordinator in 2002, before moving to varsity wide receivers coach and junior varsity offensive coordinator in 2003.
In 2004, Reagan was promoted to offensive coordinator at Chestatee High School, while maintaining his role as wide receivers coach.ย In 2005, Reagan was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach. ย
His final stop on the high school circuit came at Monroe (Ga.) Area High School where he served as the offensive coordinator for two years. ย
Reagan received his bachelorโs degree in physical education/Leadership from North Georgia College and State University in 2008.ย
Reagan is married to the former Elizabeth Ralston from Johns Creek, Ga., and the couple has three children, Heidi (10) and Chloe (8), and Maggie (born Sept. 2017).
