Former Troy Standouts Brooks Bryan and Jay Dill Selected to Arizona Fall League

TROY, Ala. — Former Troy baseball standouts Brooks Bryan and Jay Dill have been selected to participate in the prestigious Arizona Fall League (AFL). Bryan, a catcher in the Kansas City Royals organization, will suit up for the Surprise Saguaros, while Dill, a right-handed pitcher in the Athletics system, will take the mound for the Mesa Solar Sox.
The Arizona Fall League is Major League Baseball's premier off-season prospect development program. Operating each fall across six Phoenix-area spring training venues, the AFL functions as a finishing school for top minor league talent. Since its founding in 1992, the league has featured over 3,000 future Major Leaguers, including MLB All-Stars, MVPs, and Hall of Famers, providing elite prospects an opportunity to compete against high-level competition under direct supervision from MLB organizations.
Bryan cemented himself as one of the all-time Trojan greats. The Opelika, Ala., native finished his collegiate career as a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist (2024), All-Sun Belt First Team (2024), and ABCA/Rawlings All-Southeast Region First-Team (2024). Bryan finished his Trojan career slashing .272/.380/.545 with 138 hits, 158 RBIs, 103 runs, 75 walks, and 34 home runs.
Following a standout Trojan career, Brooks Bryan was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the eighth round (248th overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft. Bryan became the 38th player and fourth catcher selected out of Troy since the program made the transition to Division I in 1993.
In his first professional season with the Columbia Fireflies—the Royals' Single-A affiliate—Bryan produced a .319/.406/.496 slash line. The backstop tallied 38 hits, 24 RBIs, 16 walks, six stolen bases, and three home runs.
Jay Dill dominated on the mound during his two seasons at Troy, posting a 5-5 record, nine saves, and a 4.63 ERA across 45 appearances and 95.1 innings pitched. The right-hander struck out 114 batters while allowing just 60 hits and 57 walks, leading the Sun Belt Conference in his senior season with 12.86 strikeouts per nine innings.
The Dayton, Tenn., native was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 18th round (530th overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft. Dill's selection marked the program's 40th overall draft choice and the 13th right-handed pitcher selected in program history.
Dill climbed the minor league ranks quickly in his first full professional season. He began his career with the Athletics' Single-A affiliate, the Stockton Ports, posting a 1.08 ERA with 12 appearances over 16.1 innings before earning a promotion to High-A Lansing. Across three scoreless innings in two games with the Lugnuts, Dill logged six strikeouts and a save before earning another call-up to Double-A Midland. With the RockHounds, he has appeared in 32 games, recording 38 strikeouts over 35 innings.
