TROY, Ala. - A historic weekend awaits in Troy, Alabama, as Troy baseball is set for the program's first NCAA Super Regional against Little Rock, doing so in the friendly confines of Riddle-Pace Field.
The No. 3 seed Trojans navigated a gauntlet of a Gainesville Regional after dropping their opener with No. 2 seed Miami. Troy rattled off four straight elimination game wins over No. 4 seed Rider, No. 2 seed Miami and No. 8 national seed Florida twice to claim its first regional crown.
In Gainesville, the red-hot Troy offense scored 55 runs in five games, batting .350 as a team and launching 11 home runs. Jabe Boroff, the regional's Most Outstanding Player, led the team with four homers and 12 RBIs, including two against Miami, a grand slam in Troy's first win over Florida and a three-run blast in the regional final.
Adding on to the offensive prowess for Troy was leadoff man Aaron Piasecki, who set the table with a nation's best 11 hits during regional weekend. Sun Belt Player of the Year Jimmy Janicki matched Boroff's 12 RBIs and homered twice against Florida's Liam Peterson in Troy's first win over the Gators. Rounding out the Troy lineup was Houston Markham, who batted .400 on the week and homered in consecutive at-bats in the Sunday doubleheader with Miami and Florida.
