Troy Maintains Standing at Sun Belt Championship, Three Trojans Under-Par on Day Two

MADISON, Miss. – Three Troy golfers shot in the red during Tuesday's second round of the Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship at the Annandale Golf Course. Troy sits in sixth place, eight shots off the cut for match play.

The Trojans shot 1-under on the day as a team and closed the gap on South Alabama, which is four shots ahead in fifth place. James Madison posted the best round of the day, shooting 8-under par, moving up three spots and pulling within three shots of Coastal Carolina at the top of the leaderboard.

Arkansas State sits 5-under as a team, followed by Southern Miss at 4-under, rounding out the top four. South Alabama is 1-over, and Troy is close behind at 5-over heading into Wednesday's final round of stroke play. The top four teams after play Wednesday advance to match play on Thursday to determine the league champion.

Lawton Emblom found the red numbers for the first time since the fall, carding four birdies on his back nine (Troy started on No. 10) and finishing with five on the day during his round of 70. Emblom opened the round 3-over after a double on the 12^th and a bogey on the 14^th, before his strong finish.

He climbed 17 spots on the individual leaderboard, tying for 20^th place alongside teammates Lee Poppell and Thomas Crane. Poppell shot 71, with four birdies, after three in the opening round. Pablo Gracia recovered from a difficult first round, which didn't count toward the team score this season, to shoot 71 with three birdies; he is now in 32^nd position.

Thomas Crane, Troy's day-one leader, slipped into the tie for 20^th after shooting 3-over on Tuesday. Crane, who had a hole-in-one in Monday's opening round, carded three birdies on day two. Grant Yerger added two birdies in his round of 76, he is tied for 46^th place.

Troy will play Wednesday's final round with Southern Miss and South Alabama.
