Troy Hits the Road for Series at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Troy baseball hits the road this weekend with a three-game series at Marshall.
The Trojans are coming off a 5-4 loss to Jacksonville State in the midweek after taking a crucial Sun Belt series from Louisiana over the weekend. Jimmy Janicki, who was named the National Catcher of the Week, was the hero with a walk-off grand slam on Sunday before homering against on Tuesday against the Gamecocks.
Aaron Piasecki, the reigning Sun Belt Player of the Week, added two triples and a homer in the series against Louisiana, picking hp five hits on Sunday. Left fielder Drew Nelson homered twice last weekend, and earned the win on the mound on Sunday, pitching the final two inninings.
This weekend, Troy will stick with lefty Benjamin Stubbs on the mound in the series opener and righty Tommy Egan in game two. Stubbs' 3.67 ERA currently ranks 10th in the Sun Belt, while Egan's 65 strikeouts rank fourth. The Trojans have not yet named a starter for Sunday's series finale.Â
Marshall will open the weekend with lefty Bryce Blevins, who owns a 4.38 ERA and leads the Sun Belt with seven wins.
