TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Troy softball team run-ruled Florida A&M 9-0 on the road Tuesday night to stay unbeaten in midweek games. The offense raked for the Trojans (29-17, 8-10 SBC), posting 12 hits in five innings to take down the Rattlers (26-18, 17-4 SWAC).
Makaley Boswell shined at the dish, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run. Her doubles gave her 17 on the season, moving her into a six-way tie for the third most by a Trojan in a single season.
Mia Tidmore and Megan Loftis each had two-hit, two-RBI outings against Florida A&M, and Loftis logged her first career multi-RBI game.
From the circle, the Troy pitching staff logged its eighth shutout of 2026 – Savannah Money, Ella Cunningham and Emma Banks combined to hold the Rattlers scoreless. Cunningham also had two hits from the plate.
Boswell skied a double to right field in the first inning, but the Trojans couldn't get on the board to start it. Money worked around a walk and a single in the bottom half to keep it scoreless.
Cunningham led off the second inning with a single through the right side, and the Trojans were able to manufacture the run with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Dailynn Motes to go up 1-0.
In the third, Boswell struck again with another double, this time to score Loftis and double Troy's lead to 2-0. Tidmore bounced an infield single to short to score Boswell and extend the lead. Cunningham entered at pitcher in the bottom half, striking out two.
Troy exploded in the fourth, scoring on a Presley Ivey sacrifice fly and RBI singles from Loftis, Huffman and Tidmore. The four runs widened the Trojans' lead to 7-0, and Cunningham held Florida A&M scoreless again.
Loftis struck again with another RBI single in the fifth to put the game in run-rule territory. She created chaos on the basepaths, allowing another run to score before the inning ended to make it 9-0. Emma Banks closed the door in the bottom of the inning to end it.
Quotable: Head Coach Eric Newell
It was a good day and we got some good reps. It would've been easy to look past this game as we have Auburn tomorrow and an important conference series this weekend. We have a lot of respect for FAMU and knew that they'd push us. We played really well today, that was a carryover from this weekend. The bats were confident and we had a lot of timely hitting, and we had good pitching for the most part. More than anything, our offense and baserunning kind of took over today and that was fun to see.
