Women’s Tennis Closes Regular Season

TROY, Ala. – In its last match of the regular season, Troy women's tennis looks to defend the Lunsford Tennis Complex against the Eagles of Georgia Southern. The Trojans enter play 11-7 (5-1) after dropping their match to Louisiana last Saturday.

Following last week's match, Maria Guirguis, Valeriia Avdeeva and Leena Metwally have all crossed the double-digit win threshold. Avdeeva also maintains a three-match win streak. In doubles play, Avdeeva and Guirguis have led the way for Troy racking up 10 wins.

Georgia Southern enters play 8-11 (2-6) following a 4-1 loss to No. 59 Old Dominion last Friday. The Eagles are led by sophomore Evelyn Warkentin who boats a 14-4 record on court one. Their doubles front is bolstered by the team of Nanaka Kijima and Franzi Heinemann who are 8-3 on the season.

After concluding play against the Eagles, Troy will head to Rome, Ga., for the Sun Belt Tournament, which is set for Wednesday, April 22 – Sunday, April 26.
