TROY, Ala. - Troy baseball is set for its final of four consecutive SEC midweek trips, as the Trojans head to Tuscaloosa for a matchup with in-state foe Alabama.
The Trojans are coming off a 1-2 weekend against Maryland, winning the Friday night series opener. Senior Aaron Piasecki homered twice in the series, while the Trojans got two quality starts from Tommy Egan, who pitched 5.0 shutout innings in game one, and Benjamin Stubbs, who pitched six innings of one-run ball on Sunday.
Piasecki's two homers over the weekend give him four on the season, which already surpasses the three he hit at Central Michigan last year. The Troy utilityman has started seven games at shortstop and eight in the outfield, and leads the team with a .346 batting average.
The Crimson Tide enter the weekend with a 14-3 record, and are coming off a three-game sweep over North Florida over the weekend. Alabama has hit 26 homers on the season, ranking 20th nationally, while shortstop Justin Lebron has eight home runs to rank 12th nationally. Starting pitcher Bobby Alcock has made three appearances and one start, allowing two runs with six strikeouts and one walk across 6.1 innings.Â
