Quiroga Leads Troy on Opening Day of Chris Bannister

GADSDEN, Ala. – Constanza Quiroga carded three birdies en route to a 1-over 73 to lead the Troy women's golf team in Sunday's opening round of the Chris Banister Classic at RTJ Silver Lakes. The Trojans are tied for 10th place in the 16-team field following 18 holes.
Quiroga made the turn at even-par after opening on No. 10. The true freshman birdied the 12th and 17th and added another on the par-5 seventh. She is in a tie for seventh place individually and just three shots off the lead.
The Trojans shot 22-over par as a team and are tied with Samford for 10th place. No. 21 Tennessee holds a 12-shot lead over Indiana State after the Vols shot 3-over as a team. Longwood, Chattanooga and Seton Hall round out the top five.
Manya Saini and Victoria Stutts are tied for 36th place at 6-over par; Stutts dropped in a pair of birdies on the day, while Laura Fangmeyer added three in her round of 9-over, good for a tie for 57th place. Mathilda Ringblom rounded out the day for the Trojans in a tie for 78th place after shooting 13-over par with one birdie.
Troy will play Monday's second round beginning at 10:09 a.m., along with UAB and West Georgia.
