TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team returns to the links for the second time this spring when they travel to the Chris Banister Golf Classic, hosted by Jacksonville State at the Robert Trent Jones Silver Lakes Golf Course. Teams will play the Backbreaker and Mindbreaker parts of the course, with 18 holes on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
The Trojans opened the spring, finishing 11th in the 15-team field at the Babs Steffens Invitational two weeks ago. Manya Saini shot 21-over to lead the Trojans as they battled difficult weather conditions throughout the event, while Constanza Quiroga was two shots back thanks to a final round 74.
A true freshman, Quiroga leads Troy on the year with a 74.77 scoring average and 3.00 score vs. par; she also had three of Troy's six rounds under-par this season. She's the only Trojan to play in all 18 rounds this year and her bag has counted towards the team card in 17 of those rounds.
Saini's card has counted in 14-of-15 rounds on the year as she enters the event with a 4.87 score vs. par after recording her first top bag of the year for the Trojans. Victoria Stutts carries a 4.47 score vs. par into the Chris Banister Classic, while Laura Fangmeyer sits at 6.40 on the season and Mathilda Ringblom holds an 8.33 mark.
Troy is scheduled to tee off beginning on No. 10 at 8:30 a.m. along with golfers from North Dakota and Seton Hall for Sunday's opening round.
