Women’s Tennis Prepares for Home Conference Debut

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis is on a two-match win streak and looks to carry its momentum into conference play. On Sunday the Trojans defeated Alcorn State, 7-0, before travelling to Louisiana where they swiftly defeated Nicholls, 4-0.
During the win streak, Maria Guirguis moved to 9-0 in singles play while Leena Metwally moved to 8-1. Also, both Valeriia Avdeeva and Alexia Zarate moved their singles win streaks to three matches.
In doubles action, the duo of Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva moved to 6-2 on the season while extending their win streak to three matches. The win streak also featured the team of Hiba Heni and Emilia Namyslo move to 6-1.
To open conference play the Trojans will be welcoming the Texas State Bobcats to the Lunsford Tennis Complex. The Bobcats are 8-4 on the season and coming off a 4-0 victory Saturday over UT Arlington.
Troy will conclude the week by taking on the Georgia State Panthers. The Panthers are 5-7 on the season following their 4-3 victory over Alabama State last Sunday. Prior to taking on the Trojans this Sunday, Georgia State is set to take on Texas State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Saturday.
