Men’s Tennis Stays Undefeated at Home After Win Against Mercer

Troy, Ala. - Troy men's tennis earns the advantage point and all six singles points to take down Mercer, 7-0, Thursday morning at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
Starting the match off strong, Troy (13-4) claimed the doubles point with junior Luciano Alcocer and freshman Stephan Tavares Noale winning on Court 2, 6-2, just as senior Yeray Andres Pastor and freshman Ryusei Miyazato won on Court 3 with the same score.
Pastor then went on to take the lead in singles play, finishing his court first before the others. Junior Louis Boilevin finished his court second, with Alcocer and sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto following shortly after with their finished courts.
All of these courts were won through straight sets.
The competition then started taking its toll as freshman Ausias Martin Melo went into Set 3 against senior Hod'Abalo Isak Padio on Court 1, while Noale went into a tiebreaker against senior Howell Burns on Court 5. Melo and Noale both came off of their courts victorious.
Sakamoto's win marks him 12-0 in singles this season, while Noale's victory marks him 8-0.
Troy will hit the road to Mississippi to take on Jackson State at the JSU Tennis Center Saturday morning.
