THIBODAUX, La. – Troy women's tennis earned its sixth win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Nicholls 4-0 at the Colonel Tennis Complex.

The match marked the Trojans' final non-conference match before Sun Belt Conference play begins against Texas State on Friday.

The day opened with a doubles point win, headlined by Maria Guirguis and Valeriia Avdeeva winning on Court 1, 6-1 - the duo's sixth win as a pair this spring. The team of Hiba Heni and Emilia Namyslo won 6-2 on Court 2, with the same final score occuring on Court 3 with Veena Nazar and Alexia Zarate coming out with a win.

In singles play, Troy made quick work of the Colonels, as the three finished matches all wrapped up in straight sets. Avdeeva earned the first singles point of the day, taking down Aada Inna, 6-1, 6-0.

Despite close matches on Courts 1, 3, and 4, Nazar and Sama Hindawy won in straight sets on Courts 5 and 6, respectively, earning Troy the 4-0 sweep.

Troy now turns its attention to conference play, with the first of seven Sun Belt matches set for Friday at 1 p.m. against Texas State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
