TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball accepted its first-ever WBIT selection and will open the tournament on Thursday, March 19, against No. 2 Kansas in the Allen Fieldhouse. The game will be aired on ESPN+.
"It's an honor to be a part of the first Troy women's basketball team to be invited to the NCAA's WBIT," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "The tournament is full of great competitors, and competing at this level in the postseason will be a boost to our program."
The Trojans are fresh off a runner-up finish in the Sun Belt Tournament and regular season standings at 25-7, 15-3 SBC. It's also their third straight postseason appearance after making it to the Fab 4 and championship game for the WNIT in back-to-back years.
Troy is ranked No. 77 in the NCAA Net Ranking and No. 13 in the Mid-Major Top 25 after leading the nation in rebounds for the eighth straight season at 50.3. They also rank in the top 50 nationally in 11 categories, while leading the Sun Belt in seven.
In 2025-26, Troy was led by its trio of Zay Dyer (first), Fortuna Ngnawo (second) and Emani Jenkins (third), who earned All-Sun Belt honors. Dyer finished second in the nation for double-doubles (23) and rebounds (415) and third in offensive rebounds per game (4.8) and total rebounds per game (13.0) en route to Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year, All-Sun Belt First Team and All-Sun Belt Defensive Team.
