Women’s Tennis Prepares for Road Trip

TROY, Ala. – Troy women's tennis continues its push towards conference play with matches this Sunday and Tuesday. Before next Friday's conference opener, the Trojans are set to do battle with Alcorn State, before concluding their road trip at Nicholls.
For the Trojans, there have been several bright spots throughout this season, beginning with Maria Guirguis being 8-0 in singles play from the No. 1 position. Not far behind is Leena Metwally boasting a 7-1 record in singles play. In doubles play the duo of Emilia Namyslo and Hiba Heni lead the way for Troy with a 5-1 record.
Alcorn State enters play 4-13 (1-2) on the season after being defeated by FAMU, 4-0, on Mar. 7. The day prior the Braves earned their first conference win of the season when they toppled Bethune Cookman, 4-2.
Nicholls enters play coming off a two-match road trip. This trip began with the Colonels dropping their conference opener against SFA on Friday the 13th, 5-2, before turning their attention to Northwestern State. Their match with Troy marks the beginning of a five-match homestand featuring four conference opponents.
