Women’s Golf Finishes Eighth at Chris Bannister Classic

GADSDEN, Ala. – The Troy women's golf team wrapped play at the Chris Bannister Golf Classic on Tuesday as the Trojans finished in eighth place in the 16-team field at the RTJ Silver Lakes Course.

After entering the day leading the field in birdies over the opening 36 holes, the course caught up to the Trojans on Tuesday as Troy's five golfers combined for just six after racking up 21 the first two days.

Constanza Quiroga recorded a pair of birdies in the round, coming on her first and final holes of the day as she shot 8-over to finish in 17^th place at 10-over for the tournament. It marked the third time in seven events this season that the freshman finished with Troy's top bag, and it was her third top 25 finish of the season.

The Trojans slipped four spots into eighth place, shooting 31-over par as a team. No. 21 Tennessee coasted to the team title, finishing 35 shots in front of Chattanooga, while Jacksonville State, Longwood and Bradley rounded out the top five.

Laura Fangmeyer shot Troy's best round of the day, carding a 6-over 78, including a birdie on the par-4 12^th, one of two in the round on that hole by a Trojan golfer. Fangmeyer finished in 35^th place, one stroke better than Manya Saini, who shot 79 on the day, also with a birdie on the 12^th.

Victoria Stutts birdied the 16^th in her round of 84 as she finished in a tie for 53^rd place, while Mathilda Ringblom birdied the opening hole of the day en route to an 82 on the day and a 68^th place finish.

Troy is right back to work next Monday and Tuesday at the Betsy Rawls Invitational, hosted by Texas at the UT Golf Club in Austin.
