TROY, Ala. – Following five multi-hit games last week, Makaley Boswell was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week. Boswell had a career-high six RBIs against Furman on Sunday and finished the week with 10 total RBIs.
"This is such a well-deserved honor for Bos," said head coach Eric Newell. "She is such a key piece in what we do in all aspects of the game: offensively, defensively and base-running."
The Geneva, Ala., native hit three doubles, a triple and a home run in five total games. Boswell's first-inning blast against Furman on Feb. 22 was her second of the season and the 11th of her career. She also added a three-RBI, two-out triple against Alabama State last Wednesday.
In addition to her 11 total hits, Boswell wreaked havoc on the basepaths, going 3-for-3 on steal attempts to bring her season total to 9-for-9. She's second in the conference in stolen bases behind teammate McKinnon Howard.
Through 14 games, the junior utility player holds a 1.546 OPS, which is second on the team behind Kalee Rochinski. Boswell leads the team with 10 multi-hit games this season.
Following her stellar week, Boswell now leads the Sun Belt Conference in hits (24), RBIs (18), doubles (9) and batting average (.545). Her nine total doubles are second in the nation behind Georgia's Sarah Gordon.
Additionally, Boswell is rising up the record books. Her .654 career slugging percentage sits alone at the top of the Troy record books, and her .458 career on-base percentage is third in Troy history.
Boswell and the Trojans take on Auburn at 6 p.m. Thursday to kickstart the Jane B. Moore Invitational, which includes a showdown with No. 11 Virginia Tech.
