Troy Readies for South Alabama in Road Finale

MOBILE, Ala. – Troy men's basketball wraps up its regular-season road schedule Saturday with a pivotal Sun Belt Conference matchup at South Alabama.
Troy (18–10, 10–5 SBC) is coming off a 77–76 win over ULM on Wednesday evening. Kerrington Kiel scored the game-winning basket with 7.4 seconds remaining as the Trojans held on in a contest that featured 17 ties and 16 lead changes.
Kiel posted a career-high 15 points off the bench - 13 of which came in the second half. He also added three assists and two blocks.
Thomas Dowd's 12 points and 11 rebounds marked his 15th double-double of the season. His third rebound of the night was his 278th of the season, breaking Troy's Division I record for most rebounds in a single season.
Troy heads into Saturday tied with Marshall for first place in the Sun Belt standings, with both teams holding 10–5 records. App State and Texas State sit a half-game back at 10–6, while South Alabama is a game and a half out of first place.
South Alabama (19-9, 9-6 SBC) fell in overtime to Texas State on Thursday night. The Jaguars rallied to push the game to overtime, but could not finish off the comeback, losing 90-82. Chaze Harrs scored 28 points while Adam Olsen added 22.
Troy is 16-31 all-time against South Alabama.

Dominance on the Boards
With his third rebound at ULM on Feb. 18, Dowd set Troy's Division I record for most rebounds in a season. The previous mark of 277 was set by Alex Hicks during the 2017-18 season.

Victor Valdes has made 143 free throws this year, which is just 14 shy of setting Troy's all-time mark for free throws made in a season. Terry McCord made 156 during the 1992-93 season.

South Alabama most recently fell to Texas State in overtime on Thursday night. The Jaguars are 19-9 overall and 9-6 in Sun Belt play, a game and a half out of first place. Chaze Harris leads South Alabama in scoring with 19.0 points per game, which is first in the Sun Belt and 52nd in the country. Additionally, Adam Olsen is adding 16.4 points while shooting at a 38.2% clip from 3-point range.
