Men’s Basketball Travels to Old Dominion

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball begins a two-game road swing on Wednesday, heading to Norfolk for the first time to take on Old Dominion at 6 p.m. CT.
Troy (13-6, 6-1) defeated Arkansas State on Saturday, 99-74 to take sole possession of first place in the Sun Belt standings. The Trojans used a second half surge in which they scored 55 points to even the season series at a game apiece against the Red Wolves.
Troy has now won three straight games and eight of its last nine. Saturday marked the ninth time the Trojans have scored 90-plus points this season – tied for 12th nationally and the most occurrences in the Sun Belt.
Victor Valdes finished Saturday's game with 14 assists, tied for the third-most by a Troy player since the 2005–06 season. There have been only 15 games across Division I this season with a 14-plus assist performance. Valdes also added 17 points for the first double-double of his career, along with six rebounds, three steals and three blocks.
Jerrell Bellamy logged the best stat line of his career against the Red Wolves, scoring a career high 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting. The redshirt-junior slammed home four dunks throughout the game. Bellamy leads Troy in field goal percentage this season at 60.8%.
Old Dominion (6-14, 3-5) earned a win over App State last Thursday, 75-73. Jordan Battle scored a team-high 25 points for the Monarchs.
Troy holds a 3-0 all-time record against Old Dominion.

Sharing the Ball
Troy has recorded 25-plus assists in four games this season, most recently in Saturday's win over Arkansas State. That total is tied for second nationally, trailing only Michigan, which has reached the mark five times.
Locked In from the Line
The Trojans shot a season-best 90.5 percent (19-of-21) from the free throw line on Saturday. Jerrell Bellamy and Thomas Dowd each went a perfect 4-for-4 at the stripe.
Attacking the Glass
Thomas Dowd is near the top of several statistics nationally. The Dothan native ranks 6th in total rebounds (193) and 16th in rebounds per game (10.1). Additionally, Dowd is one of eight players to be averaging at least 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
Scouting Old Dominion
Old Dominion returns home Wednesday following four-straight on the road. The Monarchs went 2-2 in those four contests, most recently earning a win over App State, 75-73 on Saturday. Old Dominion is 3-5 this season in Sun Belt play, and 4-3 overall when playing at Chartway Arena. Ketron Shaw leads the Monarchs offensively, averaging 15.3 points this season. Three other players are scoring 10-plus points per game - Jordan Battle (13.2), LJ Thomas (11.1), and Robert Davis Jr. (10.7). Old Dominion is third in the Sun Belt in limiting its opponents 3-point percentage, shooting 32.0% from beyond the arc.
