Troy Welcomes Southern Miss to Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – Troy men's basketball returns to Trojan Arena on Wednesday night, as the Trojans are set to host Southern Miss at 6 p.m.
Troy (11-6, 4-1) won its first road Sun Belt game of the season on Saturday, defeating Louisiana 90-70 in Lafayette. The Trojans put forth their best 3-point shooting game of the season, making 17-of-29 (.625) shots from beyond the arc.
Six Trojans scored in double figures against the Ragin Cajuns, including a 15-point, eight rebound performance from Thomas Dowd. Dowd was joined by Cobi Campbell (12), Cooper Campbell (12), Victor Valdes (12), Jerrell Bellamy (11) and Kerrington Kiel (11) in double figures.
Troy outrebounded Louisiana 42-19, including an 18-6 advantage on the offensive glass. The rebounding edge allowed the Trojans to outscore the Ragin Cajuns 30-2 in second chance points, tied for the least amount of second chance points Troy has allowed in a game this season.
Southern Miss (11-7, 5-1) has won its last four games and sits atop the Sun Belt standings with a 5-1 conference record. Last week, the Golden Eagles earned a pair of home victories, defeating Texas State in overtime on Thursday night, 80-70, before topping ULM two days later, 70-60.
Troy holds a 4-19 all-time record against Southern Miss, and is 3-3 against the Golden Eagles since they joined the Sun Belt in 2022.

Troy's 17 threes against Louisiana marked its most in a game since Feb. 24, 2023, in a win over Coastal Carolina. The Trojans also made 17 threes in that game. Troy's 10.5 threes per game this season ranks first in the Sun Belt and 30th in the nation.

Thomas Dowd is near the top of several statistics nationally. The Dothan native ranks 6th in total rebounds (173) and 16th in rebounds per game (10.2). Additionally, Dowd is one of nine players to be averaging at least 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.
Scouting Southern Miss
Southern Miss comes to Troy following a 70-60 win over ULM on Saturday. The Golden Eagles, winners of four straight, are 5-1 in conference play and currently sit atop of the Sun Belt standings. Tylik Weeks leads Southern Miss offensively, averaging 18.0 points as well as 6.2 rebounds this season. Weeks' 18.0 ppg is first in the Sun Belt. The Golden Eagles get to the free throw line at a prolific rate, attempting 18.8 free throws per contest. They currently rank fourth in the conference in free throw percentage at 73.5 percent.
