TROY, Ala. - Troy catcher Brooks Bryan was selected in the eighth round (No. 248 overall) of the MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals on Monday.
"Brooks is the epitome of a true Trojan," Troy head coach Skylar Meade said. "We are thrilled that such a solid organization such as the Royals got him this morning. It will be great to watch his journey begin very soon."
Bryan is the fourth Trojan to be drafted in Meade's four seasons as head coach, and the first Troy catcher to be drafted since Beau Brooks went in the 20th round to the Los Angeles Angels in 2008.
The junior from Opelika, Ala., is a two-time All-Sun Belt Team selection and became the first Trojan to compete on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team last summer. In 2024, Bryan smashed Troy's single-season RBI record, driving in 85 runs on the season, while being named a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist.
During his three seasons in the Cardinal and White, Bryan hit .272 with a .931 OPS and he ranks in the top ten in program history in RBIs (4th - 158) and home runs (9th - 34).
In 2025, Bryan was an All-Sun Belt Second Team and ABCA Rawlings Southeast All-Region Second Team selection and was named to the Buster Posey Catcher of the Year Award midseason watch list. The powerful left-handed hitter hit .279 and slugged 12 home runs while ranking third in the Sun Belt in both doubles (18) and RBIs (61).
