Five Softball Players Named to CSC Academic All-District

TROY, Ala. – Cassidy Boltz, Alyssa Faircloth, McKinnon Howard, Savannah Money and Natalie Turner land on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for Troy softball.
Troy's five selections were the maximum allowed under the current CSC Academic All-District guidelines. The Academic All-America Teams will be announced on Tuesday, June 17, with Faircloth and Howard eligible.
Faircloth leads the Trojans with a 4.0 GPA as an exercise science pre-health major. The pitcher earned All-Sun Belt Second Team with 15 victories to rank 88th in the nation while punching out 150 batters to sit third in the league and 52nd in D-I. She also led all SBC pitchers with four shutouts and 5.01 hits allowed per seven innings.
The new program leader for single-season batting average (.439), Howard, earned a 3.75 GPA in the spring with a 3.82 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology / pre-health professional major. She played 54 games with 45 starts for 47 hits, 31 runs and eight RBIs – Howard also ended with a .945 fielding percentage with 68 putouts.
Boltz, Money and Turner rounded out the accolades with a 3.63 (psychology major), 3.58 (interprofessional health science major) and 3.73 (business major) cumulative GPA, respectively. Boltz had career-highs with a .356 clip on 25 runs, 47 hits, 11 doubles, seven homers, 34 RBIs and a .614 slugging percentage. Money punched out 21 batters through 47.2 innings pitched with four wins, while Turner ended with a .955 fielding percentage and 27 hits.
