Washington, Bedward, Thomas Head to NCAA East Region First Round

TROY, Ala. – Troy track and field sends its trio of athletes, Altwayne Bedward, Tydreke Thomas and Shanyah Washington, to Jax Track at Hodges Stadium for the NCAA East Region First Round – all events will be aired on ESPN+.
Bedward opens the meet for the Trojans at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, with the first round of the shot put event before Thomas aims to advance into the quarterfinals (Friday, May 30, at 6:35 p.m.) of the 100m dash with his first round at 6 p.m. Washington finishes the meet with her 100m attempt on Thursday, May 29 at 6 p.m., looking to punch her ticket into the quarterfinals on Saturday, May 31, at 5:35 p.m.

Bedward kicks off the Trojans after shattering the Troy program record in the shot put event at the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Championships with a mark of 18.87m. His personal best earned him a second-place finish and an All-Sun Belt Second team nod after winning three events in 2025.
Thursday's action sees Thomas continue his campaign, fresh off a gold medal and All-Sun Belt First Team selection at the SBC Outdoor Championships. The sprinter won the preliminary with a 10.14 before improving on his already broken school record at 10.13 in the finals. The junior hasn't placed below 10th in the 100m in 2025 for the 100m en route to five top-10 finishes and one gold.
The lone member of the women's team in Washington has the top five times in the 100m dash and top four in the 200m through 2025. She comes off a third-place finish (11.39) in the league championship finals, improving on her time in the preliminary round (11.39) in second. Her 12th-ranked time in the east region came in the Doc Anderson Invitational, where she brought home gold with the top time in program history at 11.20.
