Troy Athletics Hands Out Top Athletic & Academic Awards at Annual Trojan Tribute

TROY, Ala. – Troy Athletics handed out its top individual, team and academic awards on Monday evening at its annual Trojan Tribute ceremony in Trojan Arena. Zay Dyer and Tori Hester took home top female honors; Brooks Bryan took home top male honors, while men's basketball won #OneTROY Team of the Year after its berth in March Madness.

Dyer set the Troy single-season rebounding record and finished the season ranked 11th nationally in the category. She averaged a double-double, with 13.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, in helping lead Troy to the WNIT Championship Game. Hester was named the Sun Belt Volleyball Player of the Year and an AVCA All-American after becoming Troy's all-time leader in kills and kills per set.

Bryan played for Team USA over the summer after finishing 2024 as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award and Dick Howser Trophy. He set the Troy single-season RBI record and led Troy with 18 home runs. The men's basketball team won both the Sun Belt regular season and tournament championship as it played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017.

Track athlete Abby Grosinske received the top honor of the year, the Trojan Way Leadership Award. This award is given to the student-athlete who is the epitome of a Troy student-athlete and is the true definition of a student-athlete leader both on campus and in the community.Â

Troy's top academic honors were given to volleyball's Janelle Stuempfig, Grosinske and volleyball's Jaci Mesa (Sorrell Award for the female graduating student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA) and men's golf's Jake Springer (Clements Award for the male student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA). Both the men's and women's tennis teams won the team GPA award.
