TROY, Ala. - Troy catcher Brooks Bryan has been recognized as one of the top backstops in college baseball, landing on the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award midseason watch list.
Bryan, who set a new Troy record with 85 RBIs as a sophomore last season, has continued to be one of the best run producers in college baseball with a Sun Belt-leading 45 RBIs this year. The Opelika, Ala., native is batting .279 on the season, and has tallied nine doubles and seven home runs while catching five base stealers from behind the plate.
"We are glad that Brooks continues to receive well deserved award recognition," head coach Skylar Meade said. "He is one of the top players in college baseball, and there are few players nationally more humble in having this type of attention."
The 6'2", 222-pound catcher was recently recoginzed as the No. 3 catcher in college baseball in D1 Baseball's Week 6 position rankings, and was touted as a top prospect ahead of the 2025 MLB Draft, coming in at No. 45 in D1 Baseball's Top 100 college prospects.
Bryan and No. 18 Troy return home to Riddle-Pace Field this weekend with a three-game Sun Belt series against ULM Thursday-Saturday. First pitch on Thursday and Friday is slated for 6 p.m. while Saturday's series finale will begin at 3:33 p.m.
