TROY, Ala. – Following one of the most impressive seasons in program history, Troy men's basketball has signed high school star Javen Colbert prior to the 2025-26 season, head coach Scott Cross announced on Wednesday evening.
Colbert, a native of Decatur, Texas, is one of the best offensive high school players in the Lone Star State and will bring a smooth shooting stroke and strong playmaking to the Trojans backcourt for years to come.
"We are super fired up to sign Javen Colbert here at Troy," Cross said. "Javen is going to be a big-time player for the Trojans. He was the leading scorer in the entire state of Texas and the 4A Player of the Year, which is very hard to do. Javen is one of the best pure shooters that I have ever been around. He is an OKG: 'Our Kind of Guy' and will fit in great with the players that we have already signed and are returning. Yes, he likes Waffle House too!"
Colbert played at Decatur High School from 2022-24 and scored over 2,600 career points, including 1,102 his senior year. Rated as one of the best scorers in not just the state but also the country, Colbert averaged 32.2 points his senior year, which ranked 28th in the nation. He also added 5.3 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game while shooting 51.0 percent from the field and 42.0 percent from distance.
He had seven 40-plus point games and a 51-point performance during his senior season.
Son of Rob and Jessica Yeatts, Colbert has three siblings: Kyleigh, Arianna and Jett. He will be majoring in sports management.
Colbert joins Tony Montgomery and Emmanuel Clarton who signed during the early period in November.
