Troy Celebrates End of Spring Practice with T-Day at The Vet

TROY, Ala. – On a day of celebration on Troy's campus, Trojan fans packed the stands of The Vet to watch the annual T-Day Spring Football Game as head coach Gerad Parker's squad wrapped up the spring camp following 15 practices dating back to the beginning of March.
The day opened in the Stadium Club as a sold out crowd was treated to a blast from the past as Lawrence Tynes, DeWhitt Betterson Sr., Corey Robinson and Richard Shaughnessy entertained the crowd with stories from their careers at Troy.
As Lunch with Legends was wrapping up in the Stadium Tower, nearly 200 kids stormed the field of The Vet for the Future Trojans Youth Football Camp, a free hour-long clinic put on by the Troy players before their scrimmage later in the afternoon.
"As I said before, today was all about our families, our players, our great fans and the youth in our community," Parker said. "My thoughts on the day are it went perfectly. We had over 180 kids here from ages five to 12, and our staff and players had a great time with them. We had a brunch this morning for our pregame meal where we celebrated our players and families, and of course coming out here with this kind of weather with the support from our fans, we had fun and got to play a little bit."
On the field, it wasn't a traditional spring game but more of a hybrid between a scrimmage and a competition as the Trojans squared off in 7 v 7 and 1-on-1 drills (including an OL vs. DL running routes against each other). Additionally, Troy played their traditional Race to 18 before switching to a kicking and punting competition in the fourth quarter before closing out the day with a punt, pass and kick relay race.
The competitions were not limited to just the players as lucky fans went home with sideline passes for home games this upcoming season and one lucky Troy fan won three season tickets for life.
"Both guys have earned the right; they have put themselves in a position to add value for us on Saturdays and have done things the right way," Parker said. "When you do that at Troy University, we are going to reward that. Those two guys have earned it and that's one of the coolest parts of my job right there."

Immediately before taking the field to work the kid's camp, Troy held a team meeting where receiver DJ Epps and running back Tae Meadows earned scholarships.🫶 Nothing but love for Trojan Nation! pic.twitter.com/KJ5s9uOSsU
