TROY, Ala. – Winners of its last eight matches, the Troy men's tennis team looks to keep it going on Saturday morning, as it welcome Coastal Alabama Community College to the Lunsford Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
Troy (13-4) is coming off a 4-1 win over Jacksonville State on Tuesday at home. Troy dropped the doubles point but caught fire in the singles portion winning four matches in a row to clinch the team victory.
The Trojans are 60-26 during the dual season in singles and have three players with 11 or more wins. Luciano Alcocer and Yeray Andres Pastor have each put together an impressive 11-1 record going into the final non-conference match of the season. Hiiro Sakamoto continues to lead the way though, as his 14-1 record is atop the team. A newcomer from Japan, Sakamoto has won his last 12 matches and is 7-0 in the No. 4 spot.
All 11 of Pastor's wins have come in the No. 1 (2-0) and No. 2 (9-1) spots.
In doubles, the partnership of Alcocer and Sakamoto still leads Troy with a 12-5 record. Pastor and Henrique de Brito are a perfect 7-0.
