Troy Football Opens Spring Practice

TROY, Ala. – Troy Football opened its 2025 spring practice with a two-hour workout Tuesday morning on the grass fields behind Trojan Arena and on the cusp of the construction site where the Trojans' new Indoor Practice Facility is being built.
"We're not looking left, we're not looking right, we're not looking behind us, we're moving forward to get better," head coach Gerad Parker said following the practice session. "I want all of us to control what we can, me included, about our improvement on a daily basis.
"Our improvement to get better at every phase is all we are talking about," Parker added. "Now, how we are and the pieces we have to hit on in all three phases are certainly defined, but if our whole motive in our minds is to simply get better daily, it's going to take the pressure off an individual … team glory will be followed by individual glory."
The Trojans were in just helmets and shorts per the mandated NCAA accumulation period as they open the spring and will be again on Thursday morning. Troy has five practices before stepping away for a week for Spring Break.
In addition to the high-flying energy on the field during the practice, another constant throughout the 120 minutes Tuesday morning was the sound of cement trucks as the foundation began to take shape on the indoor facility.
"There is a price of progress, and that's that dirt blowing a little bit, and nobody is going to gripe about that," Parker said. "That progress is being seen by all our recruits and visitors in addition to our staff and current players just builds morale. They (construction workers) are doing the same thing over there that we are over here; they are building the foundation, so I thought it would be prophetic that you look over there, and it's the same thing we're trying to do."
