Women’s Golf Sixth at ULM Invitational

MONROE, La. – Paced by Victoria Stutts and Manya Saini, the Troy women's golf team is in sixth place following Monday's opening two rounds of the ULM Invitational at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
Troy shot 5-over in the opening round, followed by a 13-over during the afternoon session. Southern Miss is the clubhouse leader at 11-under, followed by ULM (-3), UT Arlington (-1) and Oral Roberts (+2). The Trojans struggled with bogeys as they carded 41 as a team, the third most in the field on Monday.
Stutts fired a 1-under 71 during the first round thanks to four birdies on her card, with three coming on her back nine (front nine on the course). She followed with two more birdies on her second trip through the course during a round of 74. Stutts is tied for 13th place, two shots ahead of Saini.
Playing for the first time this spring, Saini is tied for 19th place at 3-over following rounds of 73 and 74 on Monday. She finished the day with five total birdies, including on the par-5 16th in both rounds.
Katelynn Altese, who carded the seventh most pars on the opening day with 26, is tied for 25th place as she is playing as an individual. She birdied three holes on the day, one on each of the different par holes. Laura Fangmeyer is tied for 33rd place at 6-over par, with four combined birdies; Alyssa Mercado carded three birdies and is tied for 38th at 8-over, while Mathilda Ringblom is a shot back in a tie for 39th place.
Teams wrap play Tuesday with the final 18 holes.
