TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's golf team hits the links for the second time this spring with a trip to LPGA International Golf Course for the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
The Trojans opened their championship season, finishing ninth at The Border Olympics two weeks ago, but carry momentum into this week's event after shooting 1-under in the final round in Laredo, the low round of the day in the field of 16 teams.
Jake Springer led the Trojans for the third straight tournament after shooting under-par in the first and third rounds, while Lee Poppell and Brantley Scott added under-par rounds for Troy in the final round.
As a team, Troy has played nearly 50 percent (7-of-15) of its rounds under-par this season and carries a 0.13 score vs. par into the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday.
