Women’s Golf Climbs Leaderboard on Final Day of Spring Break Shootout

DADE CITY, Fla. – Troy climbed a pair of spots on the leaderboard into seventh place following Tuesday's final round of the Spring Break Shootout hosted by Western Kentucky at the Lake Jovita Golf Club.

Alyssa Mercado wrapped up her best week of the spring, shooting 1-over on the day, with a team-best five birdies, including three on the back nine. Mercado climbed six spots into 14^th place following her best round of the week and the spring.

Troy shot 13-over as a team on Tuesday as the Trojans jumped both Jacksonville State and St. John's on the leaderboard. Florida Gulf Coast took home the team title at 14-over, followed by Illinois (+21), Stetson (+37), New Mexico State (+37) and Nebraska (+39).

Laura Fangmeyer made Troy's biggest jump of the day as she moved up eight spots into a tie for 27^th place after carding a birdie on the par-4 15^th en route to a 3-over 74, while Mathilda Ringblom climbed four spots into a tie for 34^th at 16-over and Katelynn Altese jumped six spots into a tie for 60^th after a 5-over 76. Victoria Stutts slipped into a tie for 40^th after shooting 8-over on Tuesday.

Mercado's success came on the par-5s where she shot 4-under for the week, tied for best in the field, while her nine birdies on the week were tied for sixth best.

It's a quick turnaround for the Trojans who travel to Tallahassee, Fla., this weekend for the Florida State Match-Up.
