Men’s Tennis Bested by Coastal Carolina

CONWAY, S.C. – The Troy men's tennis team closed out its weekend with a 4-2 loss to Coastal Carolina on Sunday morning at the Stevens Tennis Complex.
Due to weather and time restrictions, the two teams agreed to skip doubles and start its play in singles.
Luciano Alcocer kicked things off for Troy (14-6) with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 6 spot to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead. Alcocer moves to 12-2 on the season. Coastal answered with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the top spot to tie things at 1-1.
Troy's leading singles player, Hiiro Sakamoto, moved to 16-2 on the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 to make it a 2-1 Troy lead, but Coastal Carolina answered by winning the last three remaining courts to take the overall match victory 4-2.
The Trojans forced third sets in the final two matches, but came up just short.
