3/13/2025 10:47:00 AM | Track & Field, Track & Field (M), Track & Field (W)
TROY, Ala. – The Troy track and field program is set to open its outdoor season in the South Alabama Outdoor Invitational at the Jaguar Track Complex on Friday and Saturday.
"Outdoor season is finally here," director of track and field / cross country Marc Davis said. "We are starting the season off at South Alabama. It is a two-day meet for many people, especially the men to get their feet wet. Due to impending storms, the schedule for Saturday has been altered. However, we are still looking forward to the competition."
The meet opens on Friday at 2 p.m. with the javelin throw, starting with the men and followed by the women – Friday continues until 7:50 p.m. with the men's 3000m. Then, Saturday begins at 8 a.m. with the 1500m and ends with a rolling schedule at 10:15 a.m. that includes the 800m, 400m hurdles, 200m and 4x400m relay.
"Because it's the first meet, we start with a clean slate," Davis said. "Outdoor season is the season everyone looks forward to, so we look forward to evaluating performances. This meeting will set up what we do for the next few weeks. Next weekend, we will go to South Florida, which will be a tough meeting filled with Power-4 opponents. This meet will help us determine who is ready to compete at a high level. I love meets like this weekend because you really get a chance to see who is about competition. My goal is to get through this meet with a pretty clear picture of who is ready to perform physically."
