Troy Takes Down Alabama State, 5-2

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Troy women's tennis team got back into the win column after a strong 5-2 win over Alabama State on Sunday afternoon.
Troy (2-3) got off to a strong start in doubles as Emilia Namyslo and Veena Nazar picked up a 6-0 win in the No. 2 doubles spot. Leena Metwally and Hagar Ramadan-Amin clinched the 1-0 lead for Troy with a 6-2 win in the third doubles spot.
The Trojans strong play carried over into singles action. Avdeeva added to Troy's lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win on court 4. Maria Guirguis got the Trojans within one point of the match victory with a 6-3, 7-5 win on court 2.
Alabama State got on the board with a win on court 6 to trim the Troy lead to 2.
Metwally clinched the match victory for Troy with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot. The remaining two matches were played out with Gabrielle Leslie securing a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 win in the top spot. The Hornets won the final match of the day on court 6.
