Women’s Tennis Travels to New Orleans and Tulane This Weekend

TROY, Ala. – Coming off a win last Sunday, the Troy women's tennis team is back in action this weekend, as it travels to the Bayou for a morning dual with New Orleans on Saturday before playing Tulane on Sunday. First serve on Saturday is set for 10 a.m. at the Privateer Tennis Center and 1 p.m. on Sunday at the City Park Tennis Center.
Troy (2-3) is looking to win back-to-back matches for the first time this season after it defeated Alabama State, 5-2, on Sunday in Montgomery. The Trojans other win this season came at home against Florida A&M in the second match of the season. Prior to its win over Alabama State, Troy dropped a close one to Mercer, falling 4-3.
The Trojans are still trying to find its groove in singles play this spring, as the team has a combined 15-15 record in its five matches. Valeriia Avdeeva has posted the best singles record so far this spring, going 4-1. She's 3-1 in the No. 4 spot and 1-0 in the fifth spot.
Maria Gurguis and Hagar Ramadan-Amin each have three wins to two losses.
In doubles, Troy has been impressive to open the dual season. The team has put together a 9-4 record and has won the doubles point in three of its five matches, including in both of its team wins.
The pairing of Leena Metwally and Ramadan-Amin are a team-best 4-1, and has won its last two doubles matches. Avdeeva and Guirguis have also shined with a 3-1 record out of the top doubles spot.
New Orleans is 2-0 to open its season, which includes a win over Southern Miss. Tulane is 3-3 with wins over South Alabama and Louisiana.
