NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Troy women's tennis team handled its business in dominant fashion on Saturday morning, taking down New Orleans 4-0 at the Privateer Tennis Center.

Troy (3-3) dropped just one set all afternoon and cruised to its first shutout of the season.

The Trojans started fast in doubles, as Valeriia Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis won 6-2 in the top doubles spot. It was the duos fourth win of the spring. Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally followed with a 6-4 victory in spot No. 3 to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead. Metwally and Ramadan-Amin lead the team with five doubles wins through six matches. The third doubles match went unfinished with Troy leading 5-4.

This season, Troy is 3-1 when winning the doubles point. The Trojans have taken the important 1-0 lead in each of its last three duals.

In singles, Avdeeva continues to impress, as she recorded a strong 6-2, 6-1 win on court 4 to put the Trojans up 2-0. The junior has a team-best 5-1 record this spring. Guirguis match victory wasn't far behind, as she won 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 spot.

With the Trojans leading 3-0, sophomore Emilia Namyslo finished things off with a 6-2, 7-5 win in the No. 6 spot. It was Namyslo's first singles win of the season, and the first time she has clinched the match victory in her collegiate career.

The remaining three singles matches went unfinished.
