Women’s Tennis Gears Up for Matches Against Mercer and Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team is back in action this weekend, as it heads to Macon, Ga., for a match against Mercer on Saturday, before heading to Montgomery to take on Alabama State on Sunday. First serve on Saturday is set for 10 a.m., while Sunday will get going at 1 p.m.
Troy (1-2) is coming off a 5-2 loss to North Alabama on Saturday in Troy and is looking to get back into the win column this weekend.
Through three matches, Troy has put together a 9-9 singles record. Valeria Avdeeva, Maria Guirguis and Hagar Ramadan-Amin are all tied for the best record on the team at 2-1. Guirguis and Avdeeva were won their singles match on Saturday to get Troy a pair of points.
In doubles, Troy has posted a 5-4 record and is 1-0 this season when winning the doubles point. The pairing of Avdeeva and Guirguis are 2-1 this season and won their doubles match on Saturday against North Alabama.
Guirguis and Avdeeva have both shined the last two matches for Troy, as they are the only players on the team to win both their singles and doubles match.
Mercer (0-4) has had a tough to start to its season and fell 4-3 to the College of Charleston last time out. Alabama State is 2-5 start this season and is coming off a 7-0 loss to North Alabama on Sunday in Montgomery.
