Troy Sees Success at South Alabama Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A first-place finish in the shot put by Biniosa Ezukuse highlighted Troy's performance in the South Alabama Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.Â
Ezukuse took the victory with a 14.26m throw just two weeks after finishing in first place at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational with a 14.88m throw. The graduate student also set a new personal best in the weight throw (18.05m), finishing in second place. Â
In total, the Trojans picked up seven podium finishes, including six from the Troy women. Â
On the track, Shanyah Washington finished second in the 60, (7.53) and Faith Jones finished third in the 60m hurdles (8.65s), breaking her personal best of 8.76s from her time at Cal State Fullerton. Additionally, the 4x400 relay tandem of Catherine Forbes, Aaliyah Murphy, Shanyah Washington and Katy Schwietz finished picked up a second-place finish (3:59.01s). Â
In the field, Joy Edward finished just behind Ezukuse for second place in the shot put (13.92m), while for the men, Altwayne Bedward finished third in the shot put (17.42m).Â
The Trojans also tacked on numerous personal records, including Imari Johnson in the 60m (7.79s) and 200m (24.75s), Catherine Forbes in the 200m (24.97s) and 400m (57.83s), Jasmine Jimenez in the 400m (59.72s), Kady Schwietz in the 60m hurdles (9.17s), Reece Knowlton in the mile (5:17.54), Giulliana Rivero in the 3000m (11:26.59), Aisley McMeen in the 3000m (11:35.78) and Abigail Brown in the 3000m (11:36.25).Â
