Schwietz Wins Pentathlon on Day 1 of Sun Belt Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A first-place finish by Kady Schwietz in the pentathlon highlighted Troy's day on Day 1 of the Sun Belt Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Schwietz's 3809 points in the pentathlon are a new Troy record. She took first-place in the 800m (2:20.11), second in the long jump (5.51m), fifth in the shot put (11.24m), fifth in the 60m hurdles (8.98) and sixth in the high jump (1.62m). Her performance in the 60m hurdles and high jump were both personal bests.
Additionally, the Trojans have a pair of athletes who put up strong enough performances in the preliminary rounds of their events to qualify for the final round
Aaliyah Murphy moved on to the the 400m finals (55.95 and Haley Wilson qualified for the 800m finals with a personal record (2:11.78). Biniosa Ezukuse also put up a personal best in the weight throw (18.25m), finishing in ninth place.
