Volleyball Readies for Road Series at ULM

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball visits ULM this week for its penultimate road trip of the season, with matches scheduled for Thursday and Friday. First serve on Thursday is set for 6 p.m., while Friday's match is slated for 1 p.m.
Last week, the Trojans split a pair of home matches against Arkansas State. Both contests ended in four sets, with Troy taking Thursday's opener before the Red Wolves evened the series on Friday. In the first match, Troy started strong, hitting .447 in the opening set, its third-highest hitting percentage in a single set this season.
ULM enters the weekend following two losses at Texas State. The Warhawks are still searching for their first Sun Belt win of the year after starting 0-10 in conference play. ULM has been swept in all but one of those matches, taking a single set against South Alabama on Oct. 4.

Troy is 22-4 all-time against ULM and has won the last nine meetings with the Warhawks. The Trojans' .846 winning percentage in the series is their highest against any Sun Belt opponent. The next-best mark (minimum 10 matches) is against Louisiana, where Troy holds an 18-13 record (.580). The Trojans are 5-0 all-time against Marshall.

ULM is 9-15 this season and 0-10 in Sun Belt action. Aniya Hall leads the Warhawks with 272 kills, hitting .257 on the season. Morgan Howard has established herself as ULM's primary setter, dishing out 492 assists this year. ULM ranks second in the Sun Belt and 71st in the country in total digs (1,246) and fourth in the conference in digs per set (14.83).
Notables
- Troy ranks second in the Sun Belt and 48th overall in aces per set this season with 1.76. It has been a collective effort behind the service line for the Trojans, with three individuals currently at 20 or more aces this season. Sara Bates leads the team with 22, followed closely behind with Kalina Calvillo 's 21 and Syndey Austin's 20 aces.
- Amiah Butler has recorded double-digit kills in 17 matches this season, surpassing 20 kills four times. She is currently on pace to finish the year with 398 kills, which would be a career high. Butler's 4.40 kills-per-set average would not only mark a personal best but also be good for the fourth-highest single-season mark in Troy history.
- Friday's match will be Troy's first scheduled to take place before 5 p.m. since Oct. 11 at Georgia Southern. The five-night matches in a row is the longest evening stretch of the Trojans' schedule. Troy is 1-5 in afternoon matches this season.
- Head Coach Josh Lauer is in his ninth season at the helm, holding a career record of 125-126. He is the second-longest tenured Division I head coach in Troy program history, trailing only Sonny Kirkpatrick, who guided the Trojans for 11 seasons (2006-16).
