TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team looks to build off its strong home opener from earlier in the week as it hosts North Alabama on Saturday afternoon. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
After falling to Kennesaw State to open its season, Troy (1-1) rebounded well in its home opener, as it defeated Florida A&M 6-1.
The Trojans opened strong by winning the doubles point and then won five of the six singles matches to come away with the resounding victory. Hagar Ramadan-Amin continues to impress, as her 2-0 singles record leads the Trojans. Paired with Leena Metwally, Ramadan-Amin is also 2-0 in doubles play so far in 2025.
Valeriia Avdeeva, Maria Guirguis, Veena Nazar and Metwally also won their singles matches on Tuesday to go along with Ramadan-Amin. The match victory was clinched by a Nazar's 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 win on court 3. It was the first collegiate singles win for the German freshman.
North Alabama (0-1) opened its season with a 6-1 loss to No. 12 Auburn. Last year, the Lions went 15-8, which included a 5-2 win over the Trojans on Feb. 15 in Florence.
