Women’s Tennis Hosts Florida A&M in Home Opener

TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's tennis team hits the home courts for the first time this season on Tuesday afternoon as they welcome Florida A&M to the Lunsford Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
Troy (0-1) is coming off a season-opening 5-2 loss to Kennesaw State on Sunday afternoon in Georgia. The Trojans showed fight, winning singles matches on courts five and six but ultimately came up just short. The Trojans got singles wins from Leena Metwally and Hagar Ramadan-Amin on Sunday in a pair of three-set thrillers.
Being back in Troy will be a welcome sight for the Trojans, who went 9-1 at the Lunsford Tennis Complex last season. Troy finished the season on a five-match home winning streak. The team's lone home defeated was a 4-3 loss to Mercer. The Trojans won the doubles point in eight of 10 home matches last year
Gabrielle Leslie was undefeated in singles play at home last year, going 9-0 while playing in Troy.
Tuesday will be the home debut for Troy's lone newcomer this season, Veena Nazar. She made her collegiate debut on Sunday, falling short in both her doubles and singles matches.
Last season, Troy traveled to Florida A&M and took home a 4-3 win to open the spring season. The Rattlers are 0-1 this season, after dropping its home opener to Georgia Southern.
