Women’s Tennis Drops Season Opener to Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – The Troy women's tennis team battled all afternoon but came up just short against Kennesaw State in its spring opener on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-2 at the Bettu Beigel Courts.
Troy (0-1) started strong in doubles play, as Hagar Ramadan-Amin and Leena Metwally won the No. 3 doubles match 6-3. Kennesaw State (1-1) responded with a 6-2 win in the No. 2 spot and a 6-4 victory in the No. 1 spot to take the early 1-0 match advantage.
In singles play, the Owls won the first three matches to take a 4-0 lead and clinch the match victory. Both teams agreed to play out the remaining three matches on courts 4, 5 and 6.
Ramadan-Amin got Troy on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win in the No. 6 spot. The Owls answered with a win on court 4. The Trojans closed out the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) win in the No. 5 spot from Metwally.
Metwally is picking up where she left off last season, where she won 16 singles matches. Dating back to the 2024 campaign, she has won six consecutive matches and is 9-1 in her last 10.
The Trojans are back in action on Tuesday as they welcome Florida A&M for their home opener. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m. at the Lunsford Tennis Complex.
