Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Season at Kennesaw State

TROY, Ala. – The spring season has arrived for the Troy women's tennis team, as it opens its 2025 calendar with a road match against Kennesaw State at the Betty Siegel Courts. First serve is set 12 p.m.
The Trojans are coming off a strong 2024 season that saw it win 16 matches, including nine against Sun Belt teams. It's nine conference wins are the most in program history since joining the SBC.
Last season the Trojans opened their conference slate with an upset win over No. 70 Georgia Southern, before closing out the season with eight consecutive wins heading into the conference tournament. Troy defeated Georgia Southern in the quarterfinals but feel the following day to App State.
Troy is returning six players from last season, including Gabrielle Leslie, who went 20-1 in singles play last spring. Also returning is Leena Metwally, Maria Guirguis, Valeriia Avdeeva and Hagar Ramadan-Amin – who all won double-digit matches in singles play.
The lone newcomer for Troy this season is Veena Nazar, a freshman from Bensheim, Germany.
The Trojans will look to duplicate the successes it had in singles play last season, where they posted an 80-49 record. In doubles, Troy went 32-26.
